First introduced in 1986, the full-size sedan Ford Taurus is one of the five best-selling cars of the American auto giant. For twenty years, the Ford Taurus model has proven itself well on the North American continent, even US policemen drove such cars. But in the Old World and Asia it was better known for its "brother" on the platform - Ford Mondeo.

Fans of the American style only occasionally could afford to bring such a car, and even then at exorbitant prices. However, the Ford Taurus sedan was not always held in high esteem, for some period they even tried to remove it from production, but after a short absence at the North American Auto Show in Detroit in 2009, the sixth generation Ford Taurus was still presented to the general public. And in 2011, the 2013 Ford Taurus debuted in New York - essentially a facelifted version of the sixth generation.

Ford Motor Company specialists are justly proud of their brainchild, claiming that twice in 1986 and in 2009 they managed to turn the impression of midsize and full-size sedans, and both times the reason for this was the Ford Taurus.

Today, this massive car looks solid and reliable. Simple but not angular shapes, high glass line and unobtrusive bonnet and side embossings provide sculptural integrity and healthy conservatism. The Ford Taurus car looks modern, but it makes it clear that it is intended for solid and confident owners who are not burdened with the desire to stand out from the crowd at any cost. The updated version received a slightly modified false radiator grille and bumper, as well as another trunk lid with a reverse bevel, which, however, did not affect the overall impression. But the large 20-inch alloy wheels and LED illumination of the front and rear optics significantly refreshed the car. But the main thing remained unchanged - a solid, beautiful exterior, moreover, flawless from the point of view of aerodynamics, because the air resistance coefficient is only 0.33.

There are also not many changes in the interior of the Ford Taurus 2013, the concept outlined in 2009 has been largely preserved. The dashboard from the lowered center console with a huge display diverges in different directions in the manner of fenders. Instruments are hidden under the left wing-visor, and under the right wing - the airbag panel and the glove box.
The driver and front passenger are separated by a wide tunnel with an automatic transmission selector, and ten-position electric adjustments help to sit comfortably. The back sofa with its relief emphasizes that only two will be comfortable on it, although three will sit down if desired. To increase the luggage capacity, the backrest is foldable in a ratio of 60 to 40. In the updated interior, you can notice only a few not very significant differences. Front bucket seats with advanced lateral support. New three-spoke multifunction steering wheel. Under the huge color display, there is a touchscreen control panel for the Sony multimedia system. A completely different electronic dashboard, where, instead of three wells, a speedometer is located in the center, and on either side of it are various gauges and pictograms. The interior is dominated by leather, in expensive trim levels with perforation and decorative stitching.

As for the trim levels, the Ford Taurus has four of them. And if SE, SEL and Limited differ insignificantly (except for the presence of options, and in the latest version also with a chrome package), then the Ford Taurus SHO is a real “sportsman in a tuxedo”. In the absence of external attributes, it has a completely different filling. However, even with only one of the options for finishing and options from the basic version, you can make an individual car for the owner.
The designers of the Ford Motor Company have tried their best, and therefore potential owners can only choose what they need from an endless list of options. Thanks to built-in door sensors and SecuriCode ™ Keyless technology, the driver only has to walk to the door to unlock it and press the start button to start the engine, however, for added safety, the car can be locked with a five-digit code.
Active Motion ™ seats with lumbar support, heating, ventilation and massage help to comfortably seat the driver and passenger. By the way, the steering wheel is equipped not only with heating, but also with Ford SYNC ® control buttons, as well as paddle shifters in SEL and Limited versions. The Ford SYNC ® system combines communications (Bluetooth telephony and internet), navigation (GPS with Sirius navigation and voice guidance) and entertainment. She will also take care of safety, reporting to the rescue service in the event of an airbag deployment. As an entertainment system, a Sony radio tape recorder with an AM-FM tuner, Sirius Satellite Radio, CD and DVD drive, and an integrated 10 GB hard drive are installed. Additional coziness and comfort to the interior is provided by atmospheric LED lighting Ambient Lighting and dual-zone climate control. The designers have not forgotten about safety either. The equipment of the Ford Taurus includes adaptive cruise control, which automatically maintains a safe distance of two hundred meters, headlights with automatic switching of high / low beam and rain sensors that automatically turn on the wipers and regulate the intensity of their work. Added to this is the AdvanceTrac stabilization system, Cross Traffic Alert blind spot monitoring and parking sensors with a rear view camera.

The full-size sixth-generation Ford Taurus sedan is equipped with a proprietary six-speed automatic transmission and two petrol 3.5-liter V-shaped sixes. For SE, SEL and Limited versions, DOHC Duratec is available, producing 249 horsepower, and for the "charged" version of the Ford Taurus SHO - EcoBoost with 365 horsepower direct injection. However, in the updated version (2013 model year), the standard Duratec engine will be replaced by a 2.0-liter EcoBoost, because the family of these engines equipped with a twin turbocharger is not only more powerful (237 hp), but also more economical (about 7.5 liters instead of current 9.3 liters per hundred). In addition, unlike other versions, the Ford Taurus SHO is equipped with a permanent all-wheel drive system. To improve dynamics and controllability, all versions of the car have independent suspension (MacPherson front struts and multi-link rear) and steering amplifiers with EPAS system, and for reliable braking - ventilated disc brakes.

Prices for Ford Taurus can only be discussed in relation to the United States. Representatives of the Ford Motor Company promised that the restyled model of the sixth generation will be offered in the same price range, that is, from ~ 26 thousand dollars for the basic version of the SE and up to ~ 39 thousand dollars for the "hot" Ford Taurus SHO, and this is without additional options. ... In Russia, as practice shows, the price of American cars almost doubles.
