In January 2016, at the international auto industry exhibition in Detroit, the official premiere of the flagship sedan of the Swedish brand Volvo called the S90 took place, not only in traditional versions, but also in the "top" hybrid version with the T8 Twin Engine prefix. By the end of 2016, the car should go on sale in most key countries of the world, but whether it will reach Russia is not yet reported.

Externally, the hybrid version of the Volvo S90 is tailored in the corporate style of the brand, and is devoid of significant differences from the traditional "brothers". It can only be recognized by the nameplates on the trunk lid and an additional "hatch" for recharging from the mains.

The flagship three-box looks powerful and dynamic, which is why the sides can be mistaken for a four-door coupe.

The length of the benzoelectric "ES-ninety" is 4963 mm, of which the wheelbase occupies 2941 mm, the width is 1890 mm, and the height is 1443 mm with a ground clearance of 152 mm. In general, absolute parity with standard modifications.

The interior of the Volvo S90 T8 Twin Engine is identical to that of the "traditional" cars: spectacular design with a 9-inch "tablet" in the main role and digital "instrumentation", high-quality materials and comfortable seats in the first and second rows of seats.

The luggage compartment of the hybrid is designed to carry 500 liters of luggage.

Specifications. The highlight of the Volvo S90 T8 is the hybrid powertrain. It combines the petrol "four" of the Drive-E family with a volume of 2.0 liters with direct injection, turbocharging and a drive supercharger, producing 320 "heads" at 5700 rpm and 400 Nm of torque at 2200-5400 rpm, and an 88-horsepower electric motor (240 Nm). In addition, it includes a 46-horsepower engine-generator integrated into an 8-band "automatic" and helps with intense acceleration, and a traction battery LG for 9.2 kW / h, which can be recharged from the household network. The total output of the petrol-electric unit is 407 horsepower and 640 Nm of peak thrust.

The two-wheel drive sedan "shoots" to the first "hundred" in just 5.2 seconds, conquering the mark of 250 km / h. In combined driving conditions, the fuel consumption does not exceed 1.9 liters per 100 km of track, and on electric traction alone the car is able to “cover” 45 km in the NEDC cycle.

Structurally, the hybrid version of the Volvo S90 repeats the standard solutions: a SPA bogie at the base, a double wishbone suspension at the front and a multi-link suspension with a composite transverse spring at the rear, an electro-hydraulic power steering and powerful ventilated discs of a brake system on all wheels (at the front with a diameter of 345 mm, at the rear - 320 mm).

Options and prices. The Volvo S90 T8 Twin Engine should go on sale in the summer of 2016 (prices have not yet been disclosed), there is currently no data on its entry into the Russian market. In terms of equipment, the hybrid sedan will not differ significantly from the traditional versions.
