The large and spacious crossover "Grand Santa Fe" (capable of accommodating up to seven passengers) "got on the conveyor belt" at the end of 2012, but only in 2013 reached Europe - where the premiere of the all-wheel drive and roomy crossover took place at the Geneva Motor Show (at which, in the meantime, plans for its sales in Russia were also announced) ... and, in fact, he reached the Russian market only at the very beginning of 2014.

The enlarged "Grand" is built on a single base with the "regular Santa Fe" of the 3rd generation (which, by the way, was released in the summer of 2012).

Initially, the "Grand Modification" was intended only for the North American market (where the popularity of large family crossovers had begun to grow again by that time), but then the leadership of the Korean automaker "decided to take a bold step" - prepared a European version of the "seven-seater" (which is presented in our market , but for Russia this car (unlike Europe) is presented not only in "diesel", but also in "gasoline" version).

By 2016, the "Korean seven-seater", following the "five-seater", underwent restyling - in general, all the changes fell on "spot adjustments to the appearance."

The appearance of the Grand Santa Fe crossover is executed in the general design concept of the Hyundai lineup. The shape of the body is a little "elongated" and even more visually lengthened by stampings on the sidewalls - forcing the car, figuratively, "rush forward with the speed of a jet fighter."

In front, the "Grand" is harsh and focused, the main optics and "nozzles" of the foglights - "gaze intently into the road, not being distracted by any extraneous things", which emphasizes the high level of safety laid down by the manufacturer in its new crossover ("five stars" from " Euro NCAP "- evidence of this).

From the "five-seater Santa Fe", the more "family version" performed by the "Grand" differs not only in the profile of the side glazing, but also in other rear lights, as well as in a modified form of fog lights.

In addition, significant differences, of course, lie in the dimensions of the car. The length of the seven-seater Santa Fe (increased by 225 mm) reached 4915 mm, the width is 1885 mm (+5 mm), the height has grown to 1685 mm (+10 mm), and the wheelbase (lengthened by 100 mm) is 2800 mm.

Such an increase made it possible to significantly increase the useful volume of the trunk: with a "two-row / five-seat layout" it is equal to 634 liters, and its maximum volume (when the 2nd and 3rd rows of passenger seats are folded) reaches 1842 liters; but "in the mode of maximum passenger capacity" - only 176 liters of volume remain for luggage.

The interior of the Hyundai Grand Santa Fe crossover completely repeats the "interior solutions" of its five-seater counterpart, but the legroom for passengers in the second row has increased slightly - which will have a positive effect on comfort during long trips.

The third row of seats, of course, is not as spacious as the first two - it is more suitable for children, even in spite of a special "niche" in the ceiling that allows tall passengers to fit.

The second and third row of seats, as already noted, can be easily folded - making it possible to carry very bulky loads (practically turning the crossover into a massive "station wagon").

Specifications... If for Europe the Hyundai Grand Santa Fe crossover is supplied with a single diesel unit, then for Russia the Koreans also offer a powerful gasoline engine.

  • Conditionally "main" is considered to be "diesel" - a four-cylinder turbocharged engine with a working volume of 2.2 liters (2199 cm³). This unit is already known for its five-seat version - it is equipped with a third-generation Common Rail injection system, an electronic turbocharger, and an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler. Turbodiesel power reaches 200 hp. (147 kW) at 3800 rpm, and the peak torque falls on 440 N • m at 1750-2750 rpm.
As in the "less roomy brother", the seven-seater crossover with a diesel installation under the hood is equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission, specially designed for the third generation of Santa Fe crossovers. The manufacturer claims about the high-speed qualities of the "diesel" that acceleration to 100 km / h will take 9.9 seconds, and the maximum speed will be 201 km / h. Average fuel consumption in mixed mode is claimed at 7.8 liters.
  • As for the gasoline engine, it is quite possible to call it "flagship" (firstly, it is more powerful, and secondly, gasoline options are more expensive) - this is a V-shaped six-cylinder power unit with a displacement of 3.0 liters (2999 cm³). At the same time, the engine power, equipped with a new generation direct fuel injection system, is 249 hp. (at 6400 rpm), and the maximum thrust is 306 N • m (at 5300 rpm). It works in tandem with the same 6-speed automatic transmission.
The gasoline "Grand Santa Fe" has slightly better dynamic characteristics (in comparison with the diesel one) - acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h takes 9.2 seconds, and the maximum speed is 207 km / h. Average fuel consumption in mixed mode is claimed at 10.5 liters.

The suspension scheme of the seven-seater crossover is similar to that of the five-seater. An independent system with MacPherson struts and anti-roll bar is used at the front, and a multi-link system with double levers is used at the rear. The differences lie in an increase in the rigidity of some elements - which is simply necessary, since the mass and wheelbase of the car have changed. In addition, the "Russian" suspension of the "seven-seater" has different settings - different not only from the five-seater brother, but also from the American version of the crossover - as a result, the car has a smoother ride, less sensitive to unevenness and received improved handling when maneuvering in difficult road conditions ...

Prices and configuration... In 2017, Hyundai Grand Santa Fe is offered to Russian consumers in three configurations - “Family”, “Style” and “High-Tech”.

  • For the basic configuration, available exclusively with a diesel engine, they ask for a minimum of 2,424,000 rubles. Its functionality includes: six airbags, leather trim, ABS, EBD, HAC, DBC, ESC, VSM, dual-zone "climate", bi-xenon headlights, cruise control, a multimedia complex with a 5-inch screen and six speakers, a camera rear view, rain and light sensors, heated front and rear seats, Supervision dashboard, rear parking sensors and the darkness of other modern equipment.
  • For a car in the "Style" version you will have to pay from 2 654 000 rubles (surcharge for a gasoline engine - 50 thousand rubles), and the "top modification" will cost from 2 754 000 rubles.
