The next, fourth in order, generation of the iconic American SUV Chevrolet Tahoe was officially presented to the general public on September 12, 2013 - at a special event in New York, and the European premiere was celebrated in August 2014 - at the Moscow Motor Show. As a result of this reincarnation, the car retained its "philosophy", but at the same time it was improved in all aspects - it put on a modern "outfit", became much more comfortable, received a seriously modernized technique and acquired fashionable "bells and whistles".

In the summer of 2016, the five-door underwent a small update, which boiled down to the addition of new equipment and did not affect the exterior with a technical "stuffing" ... And in February 2018, for the Russian market, the SUV went through a very conditional "restyling" and a noticeable update in technical terms - on this time, the color scheme of the body was expanded, the engine power was slightly increased, the 6-speed "automatic" was replaced with an 8-range one and new, previously unavailable options were separated.

With all its appearance, the fourth generation Chevrolet Tahoe exudes power and self-confidence and at the same time looks attractive and stylish - it is simply impossible not to pay attention to such a “lump” with a monumental silhouette and all its athletic stance in the city traffic.

In the front of the SUV, the emphasis is on the "two-story" head optics and the huge size of the radiator grille with chrome-plated frames, but its stern is not decorated expensive enough - unpretentious lights (albeit LED) and the complete absence of "shiny" decor (but this in no way diminishes external impressiveness of the "American").

"Tahoe" of the fourth generation is a real "giant" - its length is 5181 mm, width is 2044 mm, and height reaches 1889 mm. There is a 2946 mm gap between the pairs of wheels of the car, and under the "belly" there is a 200 mm ground clearance.

Monumentality continues in the interior of the "fourth" Chevrolet Tahoe - an atmosphere of calmness and security reigns inside the SUV.

Behind the "meaty" multifunctional steering wheel you can see an ergonomic and readable "dashboard" of instruments with six analogue scales and a color display of the on-board computer. The "multi-layered" front panel looks fashionable and nice, and its central part is distinguished by a competent layout - at the top there is an 8-inch screen of the MyLink multimedia complex, which has absorbed most of the functions, and the lower part is used for the "remote control" of the dual-zone air conditioner.

Finishing materials in the car's interior are fully consistent with its high status - soft plastics, expensive leather, aluminum and wood decor.

By default, the decoration of the "Tahoe" is eight-seater. The front riders are assigned comfortable seats with a decent profile, a lot of electric adjustments and heating, and in the back row there is a traditional three-seater sofa, which in the "top" versions gives way to separate seats with adjustable backs (in this case, the car becomes a seven-seater). The third row of seats is more likely for children - if there is enough air in width and above the head, then there is very little legroom.

The luggage compartment of the Chevrolet Tahoe with seven passengers on board has a considerable volume - 433 liters. When the "gallery" is removed, the capacity of the "hold" increases to 1401 liters, and with the middle sofa folded down it reaches an impressive 2682 liters (both rear rows are transformed by means of an electric drive and form a flat floor). The "spare" at the car is suspended under the bottom.

The engine compartment of the fourth-generation Taho is reserved for the mighty L86 petrol engine of the Small Block family (aka EcoTec3) - an atmospheric V-eight with a volume of 6.2 liters with direct injection, a variable valve timing system, a variable displacement oil pump and half "Pots" at light loads. Its output is 426 horsepower at 5600 rpm and 621 Nm of peak thrust at 4100 rpm (before the upgrade, the output was 409 hp and 610 Nm).

The motor is equipped with an 8-speed hydromechanical "automatic" and an all-wheel drive transmission with an electromagnetic clutch, which controls the connection of the front wheels and has the possibility of forced blocking, an automatic transfer case, a reduction gear and a "self-blocking" in the rear axle.

The all-wheel drive system on an SUV can operate in four modes: 2HI - only the rear wheels are involved; Auto - automatically connected four-wheel drive; 4HI - permanent four-wheel drive with a "tightened" clutch; 4LO - four-wheel drive with a downshift engaged.

On an asphalt surface, the Chevrolet Tahoe demonstrates excellent figures: from a standstill to 100 km / h, this American "lump" can be said to "catapult" in just 6.7 seconds and accelerate to a maximum of 180 km / h (speed is electronically limited).

On asphalt, in mixed driving mode, such a car consumes at least 12.6 liters of fuel per hundred kilometers.

But outside the roads, this five-door "does not shine" - despite the decent ground clearance and large suspension travel, its off-road capabilities are limited by modest entry and exit angles (15.5 and 23.2 degrees, respectively) and a solid wheelbase.

The fourth generation "Tahoe" is based on the "GMTK2XX" chassis - the car body, which is one third of high-strength grades of steel (the hood and tailgate are completely made of aluminum), rests on a powerful ladder-type frame. The SUV's front axle features a winged metal A-arm independent suspension, while the rear features a multi-link architecture with a continuous axle.

The "top" versions are equipped with Magnetic Ride Control adaptive shock absorbers with magnetorheological fluid as standard, adjusting in real time to the road surface.

The steering gear of the "American" type "gear-rack" is supplemented by an electric amplifier with variable characteristics, and its brake package is formed by ventilated discs of four wheels and a whole set of modern electronics.

On the Russian market, the fourth generation Chevrolet Tahoe can be purchased in three equipment options - "LE", "LT" and "Premium".
