The full-size luxury coupe Bentley Continental of the third generation made its world debut in March 1991 - at the stands of the International Geneva Motor Show.

Although it was based on the Turbo R sedan platform (built on the basis of the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow), it had its own body, not unified with any model of the parent brand.

Throughout the history of its existence, the car was repeatedly modernized and "overgrown" with new modifications, and was mass-produced until 2002 (in total, 1830 such two-doors "saw the light").

The "Continental" of the third generation is a full-size coupe with the corresponding dimensions: its length extends to 5350 mm, its width is 1880 mm, and its height does not exceed 1462 mm. The wheelbase of the car is 3061 mm, and its ground clearance is 140 mm.

In the "stowed" form, the two-door weighs from 2420 to 2450 kg, depending on the version.

The "third" Bentley Continental is driven by a 6.8-liter (6750 cubic centimeters) turbocharged gasoline eight-cylinder engine with distributed fuel injection and 16-valve timing, which develops 325-426 horsepower and 610-875 Nm of torque.

It mates with a four-band "automatic" and driving wheels of the rear axle.

From 0 to 100 km / h, a full-size coupe “shoots out” in 5.9-6.7 seconds, the peak of its capabilities falls on 233-273 km / h, and the fuel “appetite” varies from 18.7 to 21.5 liters for each “mixed hundred” (depending from modification).

At the heart of the third generation Bentley Continental is a rear-wheel drive bogie with a longitudinally oriented engine and a monocoque body made of high-strength steel and aluminum alloys.

Both front and rear, the car is equipped with independent wishbones with transverse stabilizers and an automatic ride height control system.

All wheels of the two-door are equipped with disc brakes (ventilated on the front axle) with ABS, and its rack and pinion steering gear is complemented by a hydraulic power steering.

In the secondary market of Russia, Bentley Continental of the third generation is found (but extremely rarely) at a price of ~ 3 million rubles (as of 2018).

Positive features of the coupe are: noble appearance, accentuated by huge dimensions, high-class interior, powerful engines, good driving characteristics, rich equipment, high level of prestige, comfortable suspension and much more.

As for its shortcomings, they include: expensive maintenance (although it cannot be otherwise with such a car), high fuel consumption, mediocre handling, etc.
